Christians need to be trained in the skills of mission and ministry. Church workers need to be taught how to use the Bible when sharing their faith with others. They need to be trained to study the scriptures and to know the practical teachings of the Bible on certain issues of their contemporary daily life experiences. They need to know how to use both the Law and the Gospel for effective witnessing, for study and for devotional reading. They need to be trained to counsel others by using the powerful word of God. The ability to counsel people with the word of God does not just come naturally; it takes training as well as experience in Christ's life school of discipleship. The biblical method for this training can be called modeling. Jesus was a model for His disciples. Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the church of His days. He showed them how to do ministry. The pastor is to be a model for the members of his church. He is to show them “the how?” He is to carry his church members along with him, to show them how to visit the sick and the elderly. He is to demonstrate how to counsel and witness to others. The materials in this book had been used in workshops to train church workers; they are designed for use in the New Believers’ Class and for other teaching and training purposes to enhance the quality of service delivery in the church. The Christian nurture materials in this book are specifically packaged as teaching and training guide for the use of Church Leaders. It is my earnest belief that the use of the materials in this book will be of tremendous help to the Ministers of God in their bid to equip church workers and new believers.

By:"Robert A. Young"
Published on 2009-05 by Xulon Press

This book presents a unique approach to church growth. It is written mainly to help churches that are declining, but will help all churches. The underlying premise is that churches do not grow and reach new people because they do not know how, or because they are so poorly structured and organized that they spend most of their time and efforts in conflict. This disrupts the fellowship and leaves very little time and energy for reaching new people. The subtitle could be, \

Published on 2018-03-06 by Moody Publishers

Do you lead a small church? Big churches get all the love. Articles, books, conferences—they mostly feature leaders of large congregations. Yet big churches are a small part of the ecclesial landscape. In fact, more than 90 percent of churches have fewer than 200 people. That means small churches play a big part in what God is doing. Small Church Essentials is for leaders of these smaller congregations. It encourages them to steward their role well, debunking myths about small churches while offering principles for leading a dynamic, healthy small church. Based on the popular six-hour lecture that Karl Vaters delivers to church leaders across the country, Small Church Essentials will affirm small church leaders and show them how to identify what they do well, and how to do it even better. Readers will: Be assured that leading a small congregation does not make them ministry failures Come away inspired to lead with passion, regardless the size of their church Have field-tested principles for leading a church in their context Possess new metrics for biblically measuring vitality in small churches Have a toolkit of resources to use in their everyday ministry Karl Vaters has been a small church pastor for 30 years, is the author of The Grasshopper Myth: Big Churches, Small Churches, and the Small Thinking that Divides Us (2013), and travels extensively to churches and conferences to speak about leading a small church well. If you are pastoring a small church, this book will be a breath of fresh air. It will affirm your calling while giving you fresh tools to help you lead. It will help you: Stop believing lies about small churches Lead your church to fulfill the role only small churches can Understand your congregation’s strengths and weaknesses Turn around a dying or unhealthy church Identify good trends and bad in church and culture
